In the early days Dave progressed well in competitions around the Midlands, he also had the privilege of fighting at Crystal Palace in 1985 with Birmingham Ohku Kai. Dave has also studied the art of shiatsu, becoming a pioneer of pressure points in the mid 90's traveling the Country teaching various styles and organizations.

Worcester Ohku Kai's Cheif Instructor (Shihan) and only original student of the Droitwich Ohku Kai since 1984 is Dave Honey who took his early Kyu gradings under Shihan Peter Suzuki.  After Shihan Peter Suzuki retired Dave traveled the Country training with other instructors including Professor Tatsuo Suzuki Hanshi. Prof Tatsuo Suzuki also attended Droitwich Ohku Kai teaching Traditional Wado Ryu at the same time as giving Dave his 3rd Dan.

Dave also for a short period of time got Peter Suzuki out of retirement to over see the purity of the Wado taught at the original Droitwich Ohku Kai. We are the only club to be able to do so.

The Assistant Instructor  of Worcester Ohku Kai is Mick Hewins

As a young boy the only known martial art was boxing and I joined the Worcester boxing club at the age of 8 along with all the other local lads. There wasn’t really anything else in the area until the early 70s when the Worcester judo club opened in a church hall in the Arboretum Worcester and along with a couple of mates practice this for a short while. It wasn’t until around 1980 that I trained with a mixed martial arts club in Worcester and trained in different disciplines such as Shoto Kan and Wing Chung Kung Fu. In 1983 I started training with Droitwich Ohku Kai with Shihan Dave Honey and have been a member of the club ever since. In order to maintain my knowledge of martial arts I have also trained with other clubs in the area and always looking to expand my knowledge
